Made for plumbers

Every fixture. Every phase. Every truck roll.

Service dispatch by day

Today's calls line up top-to-bottom. Tap a call, drive to the address, tap Arrived, tap Wrench-Down. Log parts used, hit Invoice. Move to the next call. No dispatch grid, no per-tech routing overhead.

Rough-in phase check

New construction job runs on the phase template: underground, rough-in, top-out, water heater set, trim, gas connections, final. Each phase has its own checklist and progress-invoice trigger for the GC.

Fixture-per-fixture punch list

Kitchen sink, prep sink, powder room lav, master lav, master shower valve, trap primes, hose bibs. Each item tags to the fixture. Check it, sign it, close it. Nothing gets missed on trim-out day.

Water heater warranties

Serial number, install date, gallon capacity, gas or electric, manufacturer warranty terms, all attached to the job. Homeowner calls about a leak in year six, you pull the record and know if you are covered.

Parts van inventory

PEX by size, copper by diameter, fittings, wax rings, supply lines, water heaters staged. Track what leaves the van on each ticket. Reorder alerts when stock drops below your threshold. No more running out of half-inch elbows at 3pm.

Pay before you leave the drive

Wrench down, tap Invoice, homeowner taps Pay Online. Card charges before you reach the truck. Stripe Connect funds hit your bank in two business days. The 2am water heater leak gets paid the same night.

Every job, every phase

Underground to final walk, one thread.

1

Quote and dispatch

Service call comes in, dispatch it to the tech's phone. New construction bid pulls fixtures and PEX runs from the parts catalog. Send the estimate, GC signs, deposit invoice fires.

2

Rough-in

Underground DWV, rough-in phase, top-out. Photos time-stamp for the inspector. Progress invoice trips at each milestone. GC's bookkeeper sees the pay-app in the customer portal.

3

Trim and set

Water heater set with warranty logged. Fixture trim with per-fixture punch list. Trap primes checked. Gas connections signed off. Final walk photos attach to the job history.

4

Bill and close

Final invoice converts from the signed estimate. Homeowner or GC pays online. Job closes. Warranty and record stay in Workhand for the life of the customer.

Get paid before you leave

Invoice on the driveway. Card charges before the truck.

Every service call ends with an invoice. Line items pull from the parts catalog and labor rate. After-hours flag swaps in the premium rate. Homeowner taps Pay Online. Stripe Connect funds hit your bank in two business days. The 2am water heater leak gets paid the same night.

  • Stripe Connect, 2.9% + 30 cents. Zero markup from Workhand.
  • After-hours flag swaps to premium hourly and emergency dispatch fee.
  • Recurring invoices for backflow tests, drain maintenance, service plans.

Frequently asked

Straight answers, no gate.

Does Workhand have a parts catalog with markups?
Yes. Build the parts catalog with cost and sell price per SKU (water heaters by gallon capacity, PEX by size, fittings, valves, fixtures, P-traps, copper). Workhand stores cost and markup separately. The customer estimate shows the marked-up price only. Job costing reports show the cost so margin per job is visible to you. Cost stays internal and never prints on the customer invoice.
Can I get paid before I leave the job site?
Yes. Finish the service call, tap Invoice, the line items pull from your parts catalog and labor rate. Customer gets the invoice email with a Pay Online button. Most homeowners pay with a tap. Stripe Connect funds to your bank in two business days. From wrench-down to paid is often before you reach the truck.
How do I separate service work from new-construction billing?
Each customer has a billing profile. Homeowners default to COD with Stripe payment buttons on the invoice. Builders and remodelers default to net-30 with a PDF the GC's bookkeeper processes. New construction jobs run as multi-phase projects (rough-in, top-out, finish) with progress billing at each milestone. Service calls run as one-day jobs. Workhand uses the right invoice template by default based on the customer profile.
Can I track rough-in versus finish plumbing on a new build?
Yes. New construction jobs ship with a phase template: underground, rough-in, top-out, water heater set, fixture trim, gas connections, final inspection. Each phase has its own checklist, milestone, and progress invoice trigger. Pull the GC's pay-app schedule from the estimate and Workhand auto-flags which phase you should be billing for this month.
Does Workhand handle after-hours emergency invoicing?
Yes. Your service catalog has separate line items for after-hours rates (premium hourly, emergency dispatch fee, weekend differential). When you mark a job as after-hours, the catalog defaults to the premium rates. Customer gets an itemized invoice that justifies the bill and a Stripe Pay Online button so the 2am water-heater leak gets paid before the homeowner has buyer's remorse.
Can I run recurring service plans for backflow testing or drain maintenance?
Yes for the billing side. Set a recurring invoice schedule (monthly, quarterly, annual) and Workhand auto-generates the invoice on the right day with the Stripe Pay Online button. Customer pays automatically. You schedule the actual visit manually onto the calendar when it's due (auto-scheduling is on the roadmap, not yet shipped).
Is Workhand a dispatch-first plumbing platform like ServiceTitan?
No. If your shop runs 10 to 18 service calls per tech per day off a dispatch grid with route optimization, agreement renewal pipelines, and price-book selling at the kitchen table, ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro is the right tool. Workhand is for plumbing shops doing a mix of service and construction. Repipes, water heater installs, new-build rough-in, fixture trim-out, plus daily service calls. The job runs as a project or a one-day ticket as appropriate.
